International Panel

The International Panel will take place on the 12th of October, from 18:15 to 19:30.

Aurora Franco Vögeli (Brazil / Switzerland), Sarah McTeigue (Ireland / Italy), Hamed Mohammadi (Iran / Germany), Fiona Strain (Australia).

Crossing Borders: Four editors and their experiences with contrasting countries and cultures

It is no longer unusual for the biographies of film editors to begin in one country and then continue in a completely different country. Or that their work suddenly immerses them in foreign languages and cultures. But how they deal with the resulting challenges varies from person to person.

What this year's guests on the international panel have in common are their “border crossings”, which have shaped their biographies and enriched their professional careers. Their experiences range from the voluntary and not-so-voluntary relocation to another country, to teaching young filmmakers in the shadow of a brutal military dictatorship.

Panel guests:
Aurora Franco Vögeli, Brazil / Switzerland
Sarah McTeigue, Ireland / Italy
Hamed Mohammadi, Iran / Germany
Fiona Strain, Australia

This year's international panel is supported by SWISS FILMS and the European Film Awards 2024 in Lucerne.
